In this week’s episode of The Green Line Radio Show, Art Del Cueto tells us how he went for the easy grade in school by taking Spanish but how he schooled the teacher. Art shares the tragic story out of Texas and the deaths of men woman and children that were left in the trailer of a truck to die that were smuggled into the United States. A Horrific situation that affects Agents and other law enforcement that responded to this. Art reminds us that the Border Patrol does so many rescues they are one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world.
Art last week was in Orlando at the AFGE representing the National Border Patrol Council and tells us about the differences between a Labor Union and Federal Union. We learn of an attempt to raise the dues by AFGE on those under it as a per capita increase, including NBPC and how this was not passed and possibly why.
Art would like to still see the Agency support of Agents taking extra and advanced training for Self Defense. Other Law Enforcement agencies have done this, and it would be a great incentive for Agents with even a 50% reimbursement. With the Continuing larger numbers being dealt with, shifting from the Northern Border to the Southern Border has been on the upswing including Agents out of the Tucson Sector to other areas. Art met some great Agents and others from the NBPC at the AFGE meeting and shares respect and blessing to know them with deep appreciation.
