Art grew up in Douglas, Arizona a city along the US/Mexico border, Art learned early of the challenges border communities face. He has also seen first hand the growing dangers of international drug cartels. Art will tell you that the border was different, and safer when he was a kid. Today the violence and fear of the cartel is threatening to tear the social and familiar fabric that has bound Douglas, Arizona and Agua Prieta, Sonora together for generations.
In 2012, Art was elected President of NBPC Local 2544 by the membership. Local 2544 is the largest local in National Border Patrol Council with over 4500 members. Art has held several different positions including, Executive Vice President and First Vice President. Art was elected Vice President of The National Border Patrol Council in 2013. Art is active in the implementation the overall media strategy. Art is one the most knowledgable people on the Arizona border politics, history and the cultural connections shared between sister cities separated by a border.
Music has always been a large part of Art’s life. Throughout high school and college he played in a Heavy Metal band. His love for live music keeps him balanced and engaged with communities throughout the West.
Art is active within his community. He is actively involved with his Masonic lodge, helping different people within the Tucson community and has volunteered his time assisting many different charities.
